Getting to know Eden Conroy

Everyone deserves a space to feel heard, valued, and empowered. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Chicago, and I strive to provide a warm, safe, and nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your concerns and grow. Whether you’re navigating depression, anxiety, self-esteem challenges, identity development, or life transitions, I partner with you to chart a path toward greater well-being and resilience. My approach is rooted in person-centered, strengths-based care. I draw from a flexible blend of therapeutic modalities—such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based techniques (MBCT), Play Therapy, and integrative strategies—to match the approach to your needs and goals. I believe that you are the expert in your own life, and I meet you where you are, supporting you in building insight, skills, and confidence to move forward. I offer therapy both in-person and online, and hold appointments during weekdays and evenings to suit diverse schedules. I accept Aetna and Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and I am committed to helping you navigate your benefits and costs so that you feel informed and prepared before we begin.

What should a new client know about working with you?

*I value collaboration and transparency. From the very first session, we’ll work together to clarify your goals, values, and what feels meaningful to you in therapy. *You will always be treated as an active partner—not a passive recipient. I respect your autonomy and the belief that you have wisdom about your own experiences. *I tailor my approach to you. While I bring techniques such as CBT, mindfulness, play therapy, and integrative methods, I don’t believe in “one-size-fits-all.” *My style is warm, empathetic, and nonjudgmental. I aim to create a safe setting in which vulnerability, curiosity, and exploration are possible. *Sessions typically last 50 minutes, on a consistent schedule (weekly or biweekly) depending on what makes sense for your needs. *Confidentiality and respect for your boundaries are central.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

*Intake & Assessment – The first session focuses on understanding your background, current concerns, and goals. Together we identify the areas you’d like to work on. *Planning & Orientation – We co-create a plan to guide therapy, including the approaches and strategies that may best fit your needs. *Active Work & Progress – Each session builds on your goals with exploration, tools, and practical strategies. We regularly revisit and adjust as needed. *Consolidation & Transition – As you progress, we focus on strengthening resilience and preparing you to continue growth beyond therapy. *Flexibility Throughout – Therapy is collaborative and responsive. If your needs shift, we adjust together to ensure therapy remains relevant and supportive.
