Getting to know Edith Castellon

My name is Edith E. Castellon; I am a first-generation bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) providing psychotherapy services in California. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Columbia University. My lived experience as a woman of color with intersecting identities has inspired me to guide people through their healing journeys. Both my personal and professional experiences have enabled me to engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities. I have worked with clients to address a wide range of mental health issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, family conflict, acculturation, adjustment, life transitions, and intergenerational/first-generation challenges. My approach I use various therapeutic methods to best support my clients in reaching their mental health goals. I am client-centered and incorporate psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, trauma-focused, strength-based, evidence-based techniques (such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and mindfulness practices to support clients. My focus I have worked with adults, parents, youth, and members of the LGBTQIA+ community, BIPOC, Latinx individuals, and children of immigrants. I help guide clients from diverse backgrounds who face challenges such as childhood disturbances, phase-of-life issues, relational difficulties, trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression. My communication style I aim to meet clients where they are in terms of their mental health goals and needs. I build rapport, utilize active listening while providing insight, and foster an environment where clients feel comfortable expressing themselves.
