Edith Little, LISW

Psychotherapist
IA
My name is Edith Little, and I am a licensed clinical social worker. I am a compassionate social worker and an active listener who is dedicated to working tirelessly to help you resolve issues and thrive on your own terms. My approach I am trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, situational family therapy, trauma-informed therapy, EMDR, and NLP. I also have experience in grief and bereavement counseling. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy combined with mindfulness techniques. My focus I am most comfortable treating anyone over the age of 18. I do not work with children, couples counseling, or bipolar disorder. My communication style I hope others find me to be an attentive listener who is sensitive and empathic. I am not here to tell you what to do but to help you find the resources you can utilize to become a thriving individual. My journey to mental healthcare I have always been a helping person and felt this was my calling. In 1987, I received my Master’s in Social Work from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I believe there is so much pain in this world, and I had a counselor when I was a summer missionary in 1982 in South Carolina who taught hug therapy. I think that was when I knew I wanted to help others find a path to thriving, not just surviving. Since 1990, I hope that in Iowa I have made this happen. My goals for you I see this as a team approach, helping clients identify why they are seeking counseling and what I can do to support them in this process. Together, we set small individual goals while keeping the big picture in mind to build success. My first session with you I want you to come to a place where you feel comfortable talking about whatever you need to. I am honored and feel privileged to walk this journey with you.
