Getting to know Edward Alderson

As a gay-identified therapist, I understand firsthand the complexity of navigating identity, relationships, and belonging in a world that doesn’t always feel affirming. My work is grounded in helping clients reconnect with their inner resilience, strengthen their relationships, and move through life’s challenges with greater clarity and confidence. I strive to create a space where you feel genuinely seen, respected, and understood — whether you’re coming in as an individual, as part of a couple, or as someone exploring questions about identity, intimacy, or emotional well-being. Therapy with me is collaborative, direct, and compassionate. I value honesty, growth, and practical tools that create meaningful change. I bring a deep commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed care. I specialize in working with individuals looking to make effective changes in mental wellness; men navigating anxiety, depression, identity concerns, emotional expression, intimacy concerns or relationship struggles; couples seeking deeper connection, improved communication, intimacy issues or repair after conflict or betrayal; and LGBTQ+ clients exploring identity, internalized stigma, family dynamics, dating, intimacy, or life transitions. My clinical approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy , Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, ACT therapy, and integrative couples and sex therapy. This allows us to balance insight with action — understanding patterns while also developing concrete strategies to shift them. For couples, I focus on strengthening emotional bonds, improving communication, and helping partners feel safer and more secure with one another. For men, I offer a space where vulnerability is welcomed and strength is redefined — not as silence or self-reliance, but as emotional awareness and relational courage. For LGBTQ+ clients, I provide affirming care that honors both the resilience and the unique stressors that

Edward, to put things aptly, is brilliant. He will come up with all sorts of great ideas to help treat you. He is incredibly supportive. He is incredibly insightful, and finds ways to make certain ideas incredibly digestible and easy to follow. He is an amazing planner. He considers multiple perspectives before coming up with a decent conclusion. I feel empowered to finish my goals and he makes what feels impossible to change within myself a very easy-to-accomplish ordeal. I simply can't praise him enough.
I’ve been working with Edward for the past year. He’s been insightful and challenging in ways that have helped me identify opportunities for growth and given me tools to act on those opportunities. I highly recommend him.
Edward has been great to work with! He's very compassionate and provides a safe, warm space. He's helped me ground and really connect with my true self. Highly recommend!
The office was awful. I went to the outside door and was not buzzed in. I waited for approximately five minutes and then entered the building. There was no person inside the outer office. I sat down and waited. It was a very claustrophobic and small waiting room. The office was pretty much even smaller and then Ed asked me regarding the patient portal and I thought I filled it out and I looked on my phone for it. He did not ask me any questions or tell me about himself or anything while I was looking for my email that he claimed that he was going to send me. Being that I had had a Cortizone shot earlier in the day I decided to leave and tell him that I was not going to wait around for an email. I probably will not be coming back.

Edward is a wonderful therapist! In just a few sessions, he has given me tools to help with my anxiety and depression. We have also had a few breakthroughs on how my body has been conditioned to react in certain situations. Edward is very caring, and easy to open up to about anything. Highly recommend!
I appreciated Edward's empathetic/non-judgmental approach about my anxiety and his way to make me think in a broader perspective. I felt comfortable around him and never felt pressure to move fast in my processing. He was also flexible in his time when I would need to reschedule due to my work hours.
