Getting to know Edward Fernandez

Note: Before scheduling, please ensure your insurance is in-network by scrolling to the “Insurance” section of this page. We respectfully ask that you book only if you’re committed to attending, as appointment times are limited and no-shows impact availability for others seeking care. This provider can only see clients located in New York State. About Edward... I specialize in helping individuals manage anxiety—persistent worry, racing thoughts, restlessness, social fears, and physical symptoms like trouble sleeping. I also support clients with low self-esteem, sadness, anger, and life transitions. My approach is grounded in science, evidence-based methods, proven to support healing and lasting change. For those who desire it, I’m happy to integrate Christian faith into therapy in a respectful, client-led way. My academic background is rooted in psychology, and I’m currently pursuing a PhD to further strengthen my work and impact.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in anxiety and related challenges like overthinking, restlessness, sleep issues, panic, health anxiety, and social anxiety, as well as difficulties like anger or depression that often accompany it. I typically recommend starting with weekly sessions, adjusting over time as needed. My style is supportive, collaborative, and focused on your unique goals. Finding the right therapist is important, and I’m happy to walk you through what to expect during our first session.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In our first session, you’ll have space to openly share what brings you to therapy. I may ask questions or use brief assessments to better understand your experience—nothing is irrelevant, and all is welcomed with care. Sessions are typically 45–55 minutes. We’ll create a personalized treatment plan and continue with a supportive, flexible process focused on your growth, comfort, and goals.

I’ve been seeing Edward since the beginning of July and I have to say the amount of progress I’ve made in the last few months is amazing. I really never thought I would be in such a better state feeling the way I felt when I first started therapy. Edward is amazing, listens to everything you have to say, helps guide you through your situation while also allowing you to make decisions based off feedback he’s given you. After doing research to find in-person therapy sessions in Queens I found my therapist Edward Fernandez. After two months I can definitely say it's a choice I don't regret making. Edward Fernandez is hands down the best therapist I’ve had and I’ve been in and out of therapy since 2015 with therapist who treat their clients just as a paycheck. His approach is beyond other therapists and he genuinely cares about the well being of his clients. It’s a safe place and he articulates himself very well. 45 minutes feel like 5 minutes sometimes because he gets into depth every appointment and guides me to be better. He even sends me home with work to do. Its been extremely worth it, I see and feel a big difference in my moods and mood management. 10/10 would 100% recommend to anyone who is experiencing some tough times. It’s not even worth it to question his experience, just go and I promise you’re not questioning whether or not your choice of picking Edward as your therapist was the right choice. It most definitely will be the right choice.
