Getting to know Edward Rhodes

Stories have always fascinated me. They have the power to move us emotionally, to educate and instruct, to entertain us, and to cultivate true compassion and empathy through the act of sharing a story with another. They are also a powerful vehicle for how we perceive, interpret, define, and live our lives, yet sometimes it can be easy to forget that we can be the authors of our story, not just a character proceeding along some previously determined narrative. I hold a Master's in Clinical Psychology from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology and a Bachelor's degree from Duke University. My areas of expertise include treatment of anxiety and stress disorders, including reactions to trauma, unipolar and bipolar mood disorders, substance abuse (abstinence-focused, Harm Reduction, and SMART Recovery), mindfulness, existential concerns, relational and identity issues, and creating a safe and confidential space within which to explore personally meaningful issues. My approach is eclectic, drawing from a number of perspectives-Cognitive-Behavioral, Existential, Psychodynamic, and Evolutionary Psychology-as well as pragmatic and honest, focused on insight, meaning, and the ways in which our experiences shape our views of the relations between self and other, the world, and our place therein.

He's a really nice guy. He's a good listener but he's also not too serious. Feels more like a friend than a doctor.

Ed was very honest, cares about his clients and wants you to be very comfortable with him in order to get better.
Great listener, provided immensely helpful & wise counsel. Highly recommend.
I think it’s a good start. He seems pretty chill.

Ed seemed genuine from the start. He let me know what he specializes on and the type of therapy that he will be able to provide. I like that he brings up some literature during our talks.

Great experience!
Verified patient
He is amazing - down to earth, listening, and understanding... Patient and friendly... He is everything a psychologist should be! Thank you, Edward!
Verified patient
Very disappointing and would not recommend. As many reviews suggest, Ed is a nice guy and is easy to talk to. However, his schedule management is horrendous. He will offer availability and then fail to respond to calls or emails when trying to book/confirm. I had a few appointments with him and it was basically impossible to work with him, as I could not establish a consistent schedule due to his lack of response. This is obviously very annoying, as it takes time (and therefore money) to establish rapport with any therapist. So any progress we began to make was a complete waste of time. Huge red flag and says a lot about how much care he has for patients.

Ed was truly fantastic. It was only our first session and I felt like I was talking to an old friend. I'm really looking forward to working together!
Great person and very understanding

I have a great level of comfort and feel at easy during therapy sessions. Mr. Rhodes helped me to establish clear goals, and provided me with the means to manage issues in my everyday life. Mr. Rhodes is very professional and our therapist/patient relationship is built on trust and confidentiality.
At my first visit, Ed & I immediately connected. Ed is accepting, calm & solely interested in helping his patient work through issues. He is very knowledgeable & insightful.
