Getting to know Edward Spade

I have over 20 years of experience helping adolescents, adults, older adults, and couples, facing life challenges. I employ a wide range of therapeutic techniques, that include but are not limited to Cognitive Behavioral, Client centered and Solution focused.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The most fundamental human need is that of growth and development into the person that you want to become: being fully present and alive to one's thoughts, feelings and bodily states. You can change old patterns of behavior, thoughts, feelings and relationships to help you make different choices in your life. In our meetings there is space for you to be seen, heard and understood without judgment. You can find an increase in self-awareness, getting to the root of challenges and concerns. This will help you see greater options and make different more informed choices in your life. This pursuit of self-knowledge can improve your ability to provide self-care, engage more completely in relationships as well as opening future growth possibilities. Socrates encouraged what I call “examined living”. In our work we will embrace this theme as we explore your experiences, choices, and interactions, with others. As we begin exploring the questions that we start with are: “Who are you?” and “What do you want?”, "what happened?" and "how did I get here?" as well as "what possibilities can happen?" and "what do I want to do with my life". Exploring the answers creates meaning, self-understanding and balanced relationships.
