Getting to know Elaine Walden
It can be hard to imagine talking to a stranger about your deepest feelings and life experiences. Some of us can treat our own friends with more sensitivity than we can summon for our own pain and the way we react to difficulties we encounter. Self-empathy and self-nurturing can be learned even as an adult.
I am easy to talk to, and I am used to working collaboratively to find fresh ways of dealing with old problems. I'll assist you in your search for emotional growth, help you find your way to healthy functioning, and get you on the road to contentment.
I hold a Master’s in Social Work from New York University and a Certificate in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy. I am licensed in New York State as a Clinical Social Worker, with advanced certification in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. I apply my experience and skills to help you find resources within yourself to navigate emotional ups and downs. I have worked with adults of all ages and offer empathy and constructive support.
What should a new client know about working with you?
PLEASE NOTE: I MAY HAVE OTHER TIMES AVAILABLE. I start where you are. I listen carefully to what you are saying, and try to be there with you, in the context of a warm and empathetic relationship. Most of the people I work with are struggling with painful feelings of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties or are experiencing unpleasant extreme reactions to events or or interactions with others. Together we can find some solutions.
