Psychotherapist

Whatever brings you to therapy, I’m here to guide you in the process. Often, unconscious thoughts and feelings drive our interactions, propelling us to repeat patterns in relationship with ourselves and others. Taking a look inward can be scary and requires vulnerability. My primary focus is creating a supportive and safe environment, which allows for deeper aspects of the self to emerge. Integrating parts of the self that were once concealed creates a new freedom and the possibility of choice, which ultimately provides a more fulfilling and meaningful way of being. I tailor therapy to your unique needs, concerns, and individuality. I primarily work from a contemporary psychoanalytic lens and incorporate mindfulness, cognitive behavioral theory (CBT), and family systems theory when appropriate. This means we explore your past to make sense of your present-day challenges, as well as work to alleviate your symptoms. We will explore your old ways of coping that no longer serve you and work to foster new and adaptive ones. For example, we may come to discover anxious thinking is an attempt at creating internal safety or that anger protects you from feelings of loss. I commend you for taking this step in becoming curious about your inner life. If you have any questions about working together, you can contact me below. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (121023). I earned my master’s degree in clinical psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles. My clinical experience began at The Maple Counseling Center where I received psychodynamic training to work with adults with a variety of mental health concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, relationships, and identity. I also worked with and supervised teenagers at Teen Line, a peer-to-peer crisis hotline. I continued my training at Wright Institute Los Angeles where I worked with individuals and couples and received a two-year certificate in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Becoming curious about yourself is the first step. Whatever you are struggling with, I will help you promote positive change, access your internal resources, and utilize your inherent strengths. Identities of any race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender identity, ability, immigration status, or religion are welcome here. I am LGBTQ+ affirmative, Poly-aware, Kink-aware, and Sex-positive.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First, we will set up a complimentary consultation to determine whether I am the best person to help you. Next, we will schedule a first session where we discuss your goals, get to know each other, and further evaluate whether we are a good match. Sessions are generally 50 minutes weekly, but we may decide to meet more frequently based on your needs and goals for therapy. Each therapeutic relationship is unique, which means we will decide together how to spend our time. In general, therapy with me is more exploratory than structured. My approach invites curiosity, while gently challenging you to think about things through a different lens. In session I am actively engaged and will share my insights and reflections with you. We will likely share many laughs together. The therapeutic experience is co-created and together we get to figure out what works best for you.
