Elisa Haro, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Elisa! I am a holistically trained psychotherapist who brings a mind-body-spirit approach to care. As an Indigenous clinician, I walk between worlds, weaving together Western evidence-based treatment with an Ancestral understanding and approach to caring for the Spirit's wound(s). This blend allows for a creative and unique approach to care. My focus I spent most of my professional life in hospice, supporting the dying and grieving populations. I have been humbled by the opportunities to bear witness to people during their most vulnerable and painful times. Bereavement work prepared me to support those experiencing major life changes, caregiver burnout, trauma, depression/anxiety, and loss. My approach While pain is an inevitable part of being human, we do not have to suffer through it. I will support you in learning skills that can prevent/reduce getting stuck with the painful thoughts, feelings, and experiences that cause suffering. At the heart of this work is learning how to love and treat yourself as you would your best friend. My communication style Because I view our time together as Sacred, it is important that I provide a warm, empathetic, non-judgmental, calm presence that allows clients to safely explore wounds. I believe in the power of presence and the importance of being my Authentic Self; as such, I am relatable, non-directive, and enjoy using humor and creativity in my practice. My journey to mental healthcare I became a psychotherapist as a result of my journey as a wounded healer. When I was 24, I experienced a major loss that resulted in years of psychospiritual suffering. I was pushed to seek therapy, where I learned that wounds have the potential to transform into a source of empathy and wisdom; every challenge is an opportunity for growth. My goals for you Clients reach their goals by first learning how to cultivate self-compassion, inner wisdom, and acceptance as the foundation for their resilience.
