Psychotherapist
451 West End Ave, New York, NY
As a therapist, I believe that meaningful change begins with understanding the deeper layers of who we are. My work is grounded in a psychodynamic approach, which means I help clients explore how past experiences, early relationships, and unconscious patterns shape present-day thoughts, emotions, and relationships. I strive to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and thoughtfully curious, a place where you can speak freely, reflect honestly, and feel genuinely heard. Therapy with me is not about quick fixes or surface-level solutions. It is about uncovering the roots of recurring patterns, increasing self-awareness, and building insight that leads to lasting change. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, strengthen your emotional resilience, and move toward a more fulfilling and integrated life.

Getting to know Elisha Beinart

As a therapist, I believe that meaningful change begins with understanding the deeper layers of who we are. My work is grounded in a psychodynamic approach, which means I help clients explore how past experiences, early relationships, and unconscious patterns shape present-day thoughts, emotions, and relationships. I strive to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and thoughtfully curious, a place where you can speak freely, reflect honestly, and feel genuinely heard. Therapy with me is not about quick fixes or surface-level solutions. What should a new client know about working with you?

The initial session serves as a clinical intake rather than a goal-directed first step in treatment. It consists of an exploratory dialogue in which I gather information about presenting concerns, precipitating factors, and relevant personal history, to the extent the client finds it pertinent to share. Clients are not expected to arrive with a clearly defined treatment goal; ambivalence or uncertainty about the presenting problem is common and does not preclude beginning treatment. Treatment is conducted from a psychodynamic framework, oriented toward identifying how earlier developmental and relational experiences continue to influence present-day cognition, affect, and behavior, often outside conscious awareness. This modality is not brief or symptom-focused by design; it prioritizes insight and structural change over time-limited symptom reduction. Weekly session frequency is recommended, as consistency is considered clinically necessary to sustain the therapeutic process and support treatment gains. Sessions are available in-person at the Upper West Side office or via telehealth, and clients may move between modalities based on clinical or logistical need. Fee structure is $250 per individual session and $300 per couples or premarital counseling session. The practice is in-network with Aetna, Carelon Behavioral Health, and Medicare; for clients utilizing out-of-network benefits, a monthly superbill is provided for reimbursement submission. The overarching aim is to establish a therapeutic environment in which the client can engage authentically, rather than one shaped by performance or self-presentation.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The initial session functions as a clinical intake and mutual assessment, focused on presenting concerns, relevant history, and fit between client and clinician before any ongoing treatment commitment is made. From there, treatment typically proceeds on a weekly basis using a psychodynamic framework, examining how early relational and developmental patterns continue to organize present-day functioning and symptomatology. This is generally a longer-term process rather than a brief, symptom-focused intervention, given the emphasis on insight and structural change over time. Sessions are offered both in-person at the Upper West Side office and via telehealth, with clients able to move between modalities as clinically or logistically appropriate.

More information on payments and coverage

Insurance & Coverage: I am an in-network provider for Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield (Carelon Behavioral Health), and Medicare, meaning claims for these plans are billed directly and clients are responsible only for their applicable copay, coinsurance, or deductible. Out-of-Network Benefits: For clients with other insurance plans, I provide a monthly superbill, an itemized receipt documenting sessions and diagnostic/procedure codes, which can be submitted to the insurer for partial reimbursement under out-of-network mental health benefits. Health Savings Accounts (HSA): Psychotherapy is an HSA-eligible expense, so clients may use HSA funds to cover session costs directly. Fee Structure: Individual sessions are $250; couples and premarital counseling sessions are $300. Accepted Payment Methods: Credit card, Zelle, and HSA.
