Elizabeth Acosta, LPC

Psychotherapist
TX
Hi there, I'm Elizabeth! Hello, my name is Elizabeth (Liz)! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor (LPC-S). Born and raised in El Paso, I now live in Denton, Texas, and work with clients all over the state. I earned my MEd in Counseling from the University of Texas at El Paso. I work with adolescents and specialize in anxiety, family issues, trauma, depression, domestic violence, and school-based concerns using CBT, DBT, EMDR, and Trauma-Informed Care. My approach The approach I take depends on my client’s needs. I use a holistic approach with CBT and DBT, as these methods offer hope and healing to individuals struggling with a range of emotional and behavioral challenges. EMDR can be incorporated into either if needed. My focus I have found that my approach is a good fit for adolescents and adults dealing with social issues or pressures, life changes, or a history of trauma. These individuals may experience symptoms such as stress, anxiety, unexplained anger, and depression. I work with my clients to help them build skills that improve how they feel about themselves and their future. My communication style I communicate in a calm, soft, and respectful manner. I pride myself on providing a comfortable and non-judgmental environment where you can share all your concerns. My journey to mental healthcare I chose to become a therapist after years as a nurse and found that I was most comfortable listening to others, helping them work through difficult situations, and providing support. Transitioning to counseling felt natural. I have been privileged to provide grief counseling and counseling for women and children who have experienced trauma through a small church in El Paso. I feel honored to travel the path of change with my clients. My goals for you I approach goal setting in conjunction with my clients. Once we establish rapport, my clients and I work together to set goals and track progress toward achieving them.
