Getting to know Elizabeth Ann Potts

Hello, I'm Elizabeth Potts, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida. I have been working with clients who have struggled with mental health and substance abuse issues in Florida since 2009. Prior to that, I worked in Pennsylvania in the mental health and substance misuse field for over 30 years. I am also internationally certified as a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor out of Pennsylvania. I graduated from Marywood University in Pennsylvania with a Master's in Social Work in 2002. After moving to Florida in 2009, I worked at the Veterans Health Administration as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I served returning veterans from Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Middle East, as well as homeless veterans. My work has been gratifying and rewarding. I recently retired to spend more time with my family and to work part-time delivering virtual therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

During the first session, I will have you explain the reason you are seeking therapy and ask you to answer questions about relevant past and current stressors. We will complete an intake, discuss therapy goals and I will answer any questions you may have. I will ensure that you feel heard and supported. If I am unable to work with you because I lack adequate expertise, I will tell you that and assist with a referral to someone more knowledgeable and skilled. At each additional session, I will check in with you to discuss what has been helpful or not helpful and how to measure your progress so that adjustments to the therapeutic process can be made. I will guide you through the treatment, but you have to put in the work.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
