Elizabeth Black, LCPC

Psychotherapist
1520 N Damen Ave, Chicago, IL
You’re driven. You set high standards. You get things done. But lately, it’s starting to feel like the pressure never lets up. Maybe you're constantly striving, yet rarely feeling satisfied. Maybe your mind is preoccupied with food, weight, appearance, or exercise—despite everything else you have going on. The anxiety, guilt, or self-criticism that shows up might be quiet in public but loud in private. You look like you have it together, but inside it’s exhausting. You don’t have to keep running on empty. Together, we’ll work to untangle the unrelenting thoughts and patterns that are keeping you stuck—whether they show up around your body, your productivity, or your worth. We’ll create space for you to slow down, reflect, and reconnect with what truly matters—not just what you should be doing. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology Online, which informs my compassionate and evidence-based approach to supporting you through these challenges.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I offer a warm, grounded, and nonjudgmental space, especially for those who are used to pushing through, performing, or over-functioning. I work from an anti-diet, weight-inclusive, and body-liberation lens, and I understand how perfectionism and people-pleasing can run deep—especially for high performers. Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you—it’s about giving yourself permission to be fully human. It might look like unlearning unhelpful beliefs, learning new ways to care for yourself, or just finally having a space that’s entirely yours.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

With previous clinical and leadership experience in behavioral health and eating disorder treatment settings, I bring both expertise and empathy to our work together. I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Exposure Response Prevention (ERP). My approach is warm, collaborative, and personalized to you. I offer virtual and in-person (Ravenswood) sessions with flexible scheduling and currently have immediate openings. If you're ready to shift out of survival mode and into a more grounded, intentional way of living—reach out today.
