Psychotherapist
13100 Wortham Center Dr, Fl 3, Houston, TX
As a therapist specializing in eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, and athlete mental health, I have heard countless stories of the fear, doubt, and insecurities that keep us from engaging in the life we envision for ourselves. Our work will center around clarifying what the obstacles are and empowering you to try new paths through them so you can live your story in a way that you are proud of. I'm a body-positive, identity-affirming therapist who believes we all need non-judgmental support while we ?figure it all out.? Creating an individualized therapeutic relationship and experience is at the heart of my practice to allow you to reach your goals and have an open, accepting space to process your life stories. I hold a Master's degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support you effectively. Outside of the therapy space, I am a creative who enjoys crafting (we can certainly do this together in session!), ballroom dancing, and nature photography. In fact, all the photographs on this website are mine! My favorite places for getting shots are Rocky Mountain National Park and the Cockrell Butterfly Center at the Houston Museum of Natural Science. I also have two cats, Merry (of the Shire) and Maeve-they're my well-spoiled babies!

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When clients start working with me, our first session will go like this: We'll start the appointment with me asking if you have any questions, about me or about the paperwork you filled out prior to coming in (or logging in!), then we'll go over confidentiality and privacy policy. If you've asked the questions you have about that and I've answered them, we'll start going through the questionnaires you filled out, and what is bringing you in to see me. While we talk through those, we'll go ahead and start developing a list of goals that we'll be collaboratively working towards together. That will round out our first session, and maybe part of our second session as well. From there, we'll start sessions with a general check in so I understand where you're starting from that day, and then we'll either process things that need immediate support, or we'll pick up from where we left off in the previous session. Sometimes, I'll have given you "homework" to do between sessions; other times, we'll focus on an area that we've previously identified. For some clients, I'll mix talk therapy with expressive arts, letting the right brain express what the left brain struggles to put into words. Many clients find doing something with their hands (coloring, folding origami stars, playing with fidgets, etc) helps them talk about uncomfortable things more comfortably. I provide several options for my in person clients, and encourage my virtual clients to bring their own to sessions.
