Hello, I’m Elizabeth Ashley Butler, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with nine years of experience in the mental health field and five years as a fully licensed therapist. My work is grounded in the belief that a strong and healthy client-therapist relationship is essential to successful outcomes in counseling. I see my role as a facilitator—creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space that fosters honesty, trust, healing, and personal growth. I currently provide therapy to individuals, families, couples and adolescents from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. I specialize in working with clients facing challenges related to trauma, anger, anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, eating disorders, obesity, stress, life transitions, communication issues, workplace concerns, LGBTQ+ matters, and various mental health diagnoses. Clinically, I draw from a range of evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s needs. My core modalities include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Functional Family Therapy (FFT), along with other integrative techniques as appropriate. From both personal and professional experience, I’ve come to understand that connection is foundational, acceptance is transformative, and meaningful change—while often challenging—is possible. Change can lead to healing, emotional strength, and a higher quality of life. It also opens the door to new opportunities and helps us break free from generational cycles that no longer serve us. It would be my privilege to walk alongside you on your journey toward healing, self-awareness, and growth.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is to equip each of my clients with the tools they need to discover their sense of self, access their full potential, and become the best version of themselves. In my sessions, I take an interactive and collaborative approach. I incorporate workbooks, real-life scenarios, and hands-on activities to help clients not only understand but also process their life experiences in a meaningful way. I believe in speaking truth with compassion—my role is not to tell clients what they want to hear, but what they need to hear in order to move forward and live the lives they truly desire. I meet my clients where they are, tailoring my methods to their unique needs and drawing from various therapeutic tools and techniques. I firmly believe that everyone can benefit from therapy at some point in their life, and I am committed to walking alongside my clients as they work toward healing, self-discovery, and lasting change.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In sessions with me, clients can expect a supportive, interactive, and honest therapeutic experience. I provide a safe and nonjudgmental environment where individuals feel seen, heard, and empowered to explore their thoughts, emotions, and life experiences. I use a collaborative approach, incorporating practical tools, real-life scenarios, and evidence-based techniques like CBT, DBT, and Functional Family Therapy to help clients gain clarity and build resilience. Clients can expect to be challenged in a compassionate way—not simply told what they want to hear, but what they need to hear in order to move forward. Whether navigating trauma, life transitions, identity issues, or emotional struggles, I work alongside each person to promote growth, healing, and a deeper sense of self. My goal is to help clients break unhealthy patterns, access their full potential, and walk away from each session feeling more secure, self-aware, and empowered to live a positive and fulfilling life.
