What should a new client know about working with you?

My treatment approach is grounded in well-studied, research-backed interventions that are proven to generate the best results for patients with disordered eating. I see myself as an accessible, active, and authentic provider with confidence in my skills and capacity to help. I believe that we have to do whatever works which often requires an extra dose of flexibility and creativity. I’m incredibly passionate about supporting my clients in their movement forward to optimal health and well-being. I am not a solo practitioner, rather, I’m the Associate Clinical Director of a small treatment center for eating disorders, so I regularly benefit from plentiful resources and collaboration with my colleagues, all of whom are experts in the treatment of eating disorders. Consequently, my clients don't get just one provider, they get a whole team. I see this kind of professional communication and collaboration as a fueling my constant growth as a clinician; invariably, this dramatically benefits the clients I treat.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My therapeutic approach centers on three primary treatments: 1. CBT-E, the leading evidence-based transdiagnostic model for the treatment of eating disorders. This is a time-limited (20-40 weeks), behavioral therapy that focuses on disrupting the factors that keep people locked in their eating struggles. 2. Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a treatment initially developed to treat borderline personality disorder but now used to effectively treat a broad range of challenges by focusing on building skills necessary to not only cope but to thrive in an environment of obstacles. DBT is a superb intervention for individuals who frequently experience strong or intolerable emotions and/or use problematic methods of coping like self-harm, binge eating etc. I have expertise in both the adult DBT model and the DBT protocol for adolescents. 3. Family-Based Treatment, the gold-standard protocol for children and adolescents with moderate to severe anorexia. FBT empowers parents to step in to guide the renourishment process for their child. My provider role is to strengthen parent capabilities via coaching, education and skills. In addition to the aforementioned modalities, I have advanced training and years of experience in DBT-Prolonged Exposure for PTSD, CBT for OCD, CBT-AR, DBT Solution for Emotional Eating, Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM) for Anorexia. Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Parent Management Training ("PMT" or "Kazdin Method").
