Elizabeth Coutts, LPC

Psychotherapist
PA
I have over thirty years of providing counseling and therapy services to adults of all ages and backgrounds. I'm trained in a variety of therapeutic interventions, including EMDR for trauma. My approach I provide a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental space for you and me to address your challenges together. I tailor your therapy to your unique concerns and use the therapeutic interventions best suited to you. I'll support you as we come up with a treatment plan together to address the causes of your not being able to move forward in life. I'll explain the therapeutic approaches and interventions I'll use to help you at each step of your therapy. My focus I work with adults and couples of all ages and backgrounds who present with concerns in my areas of specialty. I am experienced in guiding adults through the therapy process in a way that both supports and challenges when necessary, so you can make the progress you're seeking. My communication style I communicate with warmth and empathy, affirmation, and validation of your feelings, emotions, and experiences. I challenge you in a compassionate way when needed. My journey to mental healthcare I started as a social worker, and I worked in several nursing homes as a Social Services Director. I loved helping the nursing home residents and their families with the residents' psychosocial needs. The more I interacted with the residents, the more I realized I most loved focusing on the one-to-one counseling piece of my job. I got my Master's in Counseling several years later. I went on to work with adults in settings like psychiatric partial hospital programs, community mental health centers, outpatient and inpatient substance use treatment centers, and private therapy group practice. My goals for you We will decide together what your treatment goals are. Along the course of your therapy, we'll discuss the approaches I'm using to address the challenges that brought you to therapy.
