Psychotherapist
MT
Hi there, I'm Elizabeth! I believe your mental health is just as important as your physical health. I am passionate about helping adolescents, adults, and older adults with anxiety, depression, trauma, adjustment to life changes, and managing symptoms. Together, we will work towards your goals. I earned my Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, which has equipped me with the skills and knowledge to support you effectively. My approach I begin therapy by getting to know you. Each person is unique and deserves an individualized plan. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and The Gottman Couples Method to help you reach your goals. My focus I enjoy being invited to embark on a journey to health with individuals, couples, and families experiencing anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress, relationship stress, and grief. My communication style I approach each client or family with a tone of acceptance. Each situation is individualized, so I meet you where you are with the environment you need. My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist at a pivotal point in my life. With my family grown, I was ready for MY TIME! I have worked many jobs requiring listening skills and often dreamed of being a therapist. I like to say, "I was called to this profession through many experiences in life." My goals for you Goal setting is something to discuss, discern, and be flexible with. I like to keep this conversation going. My first session with you Clients will hear informed consent. You can expect a quick explanation of my scope of practice and will be asked to share why you are seeking counseling. I will address any ideation and schedule further sessions if you would like to work with me. Elizabeth Harper-Schurman, LCPC
