“Liz is a great therapist! I started seeing her last April, and I believe that I have made some significant strides with my mental health. I started going to therapy to address a specific issue, but gradually Liz helped me work through not only that problem, but a few more I may have not realized myself. She is a very thoughtful and understanding person, and I would definitely recommend seeing her.”

Getting to know Elizabeth (Liz) Kelly

My name is Liz Kelly. I am a licensed clinical social worker, licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I have been in the helping field since graduating with my undergraduate degree in Sociology in 2004. I received my master's degree in Social Work from Temple University in 2013 and have been a therapist ever since. I have experience working with diverse populations and settings. I am easy to talk to and work from a strength-based, solution-focused perspective where you are the expert on you. I use a variety of evidence-based interventions: CBT, mindfulness, traditional talk therapy, and motivational interviewing. For couples, I reference the Gottman Method, attachment-based theory, and effective communication strategies. This field is my passion and my calling. I look forward to working with you on your journey!

What should a new client know about working with you?

People say I am easy to talk to and connect to my style. I am passionate about this work and helping others. I believe in our ability to cope and improve our lives. I believe in meeting the person where they are and allowing them to be the driver in the treatment. As individuals, you know yourself best and what you need, I hope to help you learn to cope, adjust your thoughts, and manage your life in the best possible way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

A typical session will involve a check in on how things have been going in your life since last session including any stressors or triggers. We will check in on any goals you set in the previous session and any barriers to making progress that came up. I will invite you to bring up areas of concern and engage you in processing and feedback. Along the way, I will provide suggestions for tools to assist you in building a coping toolbox and to address self-care. I will end the session with a recap and anything you want to work on prior to our next meeting. We will schedule the next session.

Liz has treated two different family members, both teens. Her professional skill has been extremely beneficial to them. They felt an appropriate rapport with Liz and were very comfortable discussing issues with her. Both gained valuable coping skills and an awareness of healthy ways of dealing with stressors that will serve them well in their lives. I would definitely recommend Liz for therapy/counseling services. The patients in my family are both in a better place today after working with Liz.
I was in a very bad place prior to finding Liz. I had been to several therapists and none were the right fit. Liz has gotten me through my issues; issues that I never thought I could get a handle on. She is very easy to talk with which helps when you have to be so open about yourself. She never makes you feel bad, stupid, or dumb like other therapists have. I am very grateful to her. She has literally saved my life.
