What should a new client know about working with you?

Working with me, you will notice that I create a safe and supportive environment where you can express feelings and share your experiences without judgment. I will help you learn new strategies to manage symptoms, develop a more profound understanding, and heal from traumatic events. In my therapeutic practice, I embrace an eclectic approach that allows me to tailor treatment to the unique needs of each client. As an EMDRIA-trained EMDR therapist, I incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) to effectively address trauma and emotional distress. My methodology also includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, all designed to empower clients in their journey toward healing and growth. Additionally, I prioritize psychoeducation to equip clients with the knowledge and skills necessary for lasting change. This flexible and integrative framework enables me to create a supportive environment where individuals can explore their challenges and achieve their therapeutic goals. The healing journey is about transformation, resilience, and finding hope amidst the pain. You are the expert of your experiences. I want to help you understand that your experiences have taught you false beliefs about yourself, others, and the world. Let's envision a future where your past no longer dictates your present. Together, we can heal.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My typical process for working with clients involves several key steps designed to foster a safe and supportive environment for healing and growth. Here’s what you can generally expect from a typical session: Initial Assessment: In our first session, we’ll discuss your background, current challenges, and any specific goals you have for counseling. This helps me understand your unique situation and develop a tailored treatment plan. Building Rapport: Establishing a trusting relationship is crucial. I will actively listen to your concerns and validate your feelings, ensuring you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and experiences. Setting Goals: Together, we’ll identify clear, achievable goals for our work together. These goals will guide our sessions and provide a framework for measuring progress. Therapeutic Techniques: Depending on your needs, I may utilize various therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, or mindfulness techniques. For clients dealing with substance use issues, I will incorporate strategies specifically tailored to recovery and relapse prevention. Ongoing Support: Throughout our sessions, I will provide support, encouragement, and feedback as you work towards your goals. In Vivo Practice: I challenge you to utilize what you learn between sessions. This could include journaling, practicing coping skills, or reflecting on certain experiences to deepen your understanding and facilitate growth. Review and Adjust: Regularly, we will revisit your goals and progress, making adjustments as necessary to ensure our work remains relevant and effective. Termination: When you feel ready to conclude our sessions, we will have a final meeting to reflect on your journey, celebrate your achievements, and discuss how to maintain your progress moving forward. Each session lasts about 50 minutes. My goal is to empower you on your path to healing and self-discovery, supporting you every step of the way.
