Hi everyone, I go by Emme and have been helping individuals, couples, and families navigate difficult times by providing support, fostering open communication, and developing essential skills to promote growth and change. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver. I’ve worked with many people struggling with anxiety and depression and have been fortunate to witness their progress and healing. My specialties include supporting those experiencing suicidal thoughts and their families—often involving a BPD diagnosis—as well as helping individuals heal from toxic relationships, whether those are work-related, familial, friendships, or intimate connections.

Getting to know Elizabeth Murphy

Hi everyone, I go by Emme and have been helping individuals, couples, and families navigate difficult times by providing support, fostering open communication, and developing essential skills to promote growth and change. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from Metropolitan State University of Denver. I’ve worked with many people struggling with anxiety and depression and have been fortunate to witness their progress and healing. What should a new client know about working with you?

I practice a client-centered approach where you tell me your story and what has brought you to seek additional support. From there you determine what changes you would like to see based on what behaviors are holding you back from moving forward. Once I get a better understanding of what you are wanting out of therapy then I tailor the therapeutic treatment to meet your needs like using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy, or solution focus therapy to name a few.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

First, I like to schedule a 10-15 minute phone call with you where I ask what is the main problem that brought you to therapy, what times and days I have available to schedule a telehealth session, and I will ask you to send me your email so I can have you complete consent forms prior to our first session. During the first couple of sessions, I am getting to know you. This includes past and present, discussing what changes you would like to see in yourself, developing your treatment goals (these often change for various reasons), and building rapport with one another. If you feel like you haven't been you and need some support, please reach out. I look forward to hearing from you.
