Getting to know Elizabeth Reed

(She/Her/Hers) (LGBTQ-Affirmative) I help couples, adults, children, and adolescents reach their true potential through therapy. Through my down-to-earth, non-judgmental, and realistic counseling techniques, you and/or your family can achieve the peace you are seeking. In therapy, you or your child will address feelings, emotions, thoughts, and experiences that keep you “stuck”. Our goals will be mutually agreed upon to help you or your child to let go of unhealthy behavior patterns. I have extensive experience working with a diverse population of clients since 1996. I particularly understand the unique challenges for the LGBTQ population and can provide a safe, open, and non-judgmental space for dealing with these issues. In the treatment of children, I fully believe in the power of play. Children communicate through play, and play is their language. I am trained as a Registered Play Therapist-Supervisor and have been working with children for over 20 years. Play therapy is evidence-based and gives children the opportunity to address difficult topics without the unrealistic expectation of “talk therapy”. The application of play therapy is unique via telehealth, but also practical and applied systematically and effectively. There may be a list of supplies that is recommended for your child to have nearby for sessions, if under the age of 12. In the treatment of couples, I have completed level 2 of the Gottman Method, as this is considered the "gold standard" of couples treatment. I am pleased to offer this as a specialty area to help couples overcome their gridlocked issues and avoid divorce. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from West Liberty State College in West Liberty, WV. I then received a Master of Social Work degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV.
