Elizabeth has experience counseling individuals, families, and children. Most specifically, she has worked with child victims of abuse and trauma, as well as individuals and families impacted by severe and persistent mental illness. Elizabeth strives to empower others by assisting her clients in finding their own strengths and therapeutic methods of coping with life's challenges. She believes in a holistic approach to mental health treatment, which means exploring how medical issues, diet, exercise, social factors, living arrangements, and environments impact a person's well-being. Elizabeth is strengths-focused, client-centered, and uses a wide variety of practice methods to maximize potential and provide a warm, relaxed, comfortable, and safe environment for clients.
Elizabeth earned her Master's in Social Work from Valdosta State University and her Bachelor's degree from the University of Alabama. She was appointed School of Social Work Ambassador in the spring of 2014. She was also recognized for Individual Recovery-Oriented Practice by the Recovery-Oriented Community Reintegration Program at East Central Regional Hospital, funded by a grant from Augusta University. This award is designated for a person who implements recovery-oriented practice in everyday work in an inpatient setting. Elizabeth was specifically recognized for supporting individuals with severe and persistent mental illness in finding strength and achieving personal gains throughout the transition from an inpatient residence to living in the community with appropriate supports.
Elizabeth enjoys traveling, exploring new cities, and spending time outdoors with her husband and dog, Duke. Her favorite place to recharge is the beach. She finds peace and tranquility in the marshes of the Georgia and Florida coasts.
