Elizabeth Struik, MSW

Psychotherapist
MI
I have always gone by Libby. I am a licensed social worker in the State of Michigan with a passion for helping young adults, adults, and seniors navigate the challenges of chronic illness, anxiety, depression, personal growth, and transitions. My approach is grounded in genuine connection, compassion, and, when appropriate, a sense of humor to help navigate challenges with authenticity and care. Starting therapy and asking for support can feel challenging, but it’s one of the bravest and most meaningful steps you can take for yourself and those around you. I often use interventions from a range of modalities to address a client’s presenting concerns, most commonly CBT, DBT, Trauma-Focused, Strength-Based, and Motivational Interviewing. I work with elders, adults, and teenagers (16 and up) experiencing grief, depression, low self-esteem, financial shame, anxiety, family and personal relationship difficulties, and academic or occupational stress. I am committed to making the therapy process as supportive and beneficial as possible. I create a warm, calming environment where clients often feel at ease quickly. My communication style is grounded in genuine connection, compassion, and, when appropriate, a sense of humor to help navigate challenges with authenticity and care. My path to becoming a therapist has been shaped by a rich and diverse professional background in social work, mental health, and human services. I began my journey with a foundational education in journalism, followed by earning my Master’s in Social Work from Western Carolina University. Over the past 12 years, I’ve gained experience across various settings, including home health and hospice care, crisis intervention, school-based therapy, and housing support.
