Hi there, I'm Ellen! Ellen Hess LCP, LMHC. I have a tendency to keep it real and be my authentic self in a professional manner, utilizing humor and strength-based approaches in therapy sessions. I focus with clients on emotional regulation skills in the moment and how to process through concerns and struggles by learning to notice thoughts, emotions, and where and how these can be experienced in the body. My approach I am a certified EMDR therapist and work with clients struggling with C-PTSD, PTSD, trauma-related issues, as well as most mental health challenges. Many of my clients come in with anxiety, panic, depression, sleep struggles, and/or relational difficulties. I am particularly passionate about serving childhood trauma and LGBTQ+ populations. I also have advanced training in CBT for Insomnia and CBT for Psychosis. My focus I am certified in EMDR and have advanced training in DBT, CBT for Insomnia, and CBT for Psychosis. My communication style I work with my clients in a collaborative approach with compassion and encouragement to challenge negative beliefs and problem-solve around needs and wants in the here and now. We work on skill-building and emotional regulation together in session. My journey to mental healthcare I received my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University Seattle. I gained 10 years of experience in community mental health, working with a wide variety of social and cultural backgrounds. This experience enables me to share different perspectives and creative avenues for helping clients navigate life and relational issues. Since then, I have been in private practice. My goals for you In session, I focus on how you are experiencing the world right now and how your past may be influencing behaviors, beliefs, and emotional stress.
