"Hello, I'm Ellen. Therapy takes a gentle, empowering approach to help you compassionately understand and overcome the complex, difficult symptoms of PTSD, anxiety, depression, and related mental health difficulties. I have pursued advanced training through the International Society of Trauma and Dissociation, a leading organization in research and development of trauma treatment, to help you achieve healing. My focus includes complex PTSD (multiple traumas), and associated dissociative disorders, as well as depressive disorders and anxiety. My practice often serves those who experience life-limiting symptoms of trauma and PTSD, including vocational issues, difficulty with sexual and relational functioning, interpersonal anxiety, avoidance, and executive dysfunction. In the past five years, I have worked collaboratively with hundreds of people experiencing a wide variety of mental health symptoms, issues, and life events to achieve their goals. I have worked with clients from all walks of life, and have a deep respect for the experiences and insight you bring with you. My modalities include solution-focused brief therapy, an approach that sees you as innately capable of overcoming the difficulties in life. This deeply respectful, empowering approach is focused on direct results to alleviate difficulties. I also utilize cognitive behavioral therapy to address the many ways our brains can be unhelpful and sabotage the solutions we attempt to put into place. I incorporate DBT therapy to reduce painful mental health symptoms and to create a foundation of skills to stand firm on to achieve your goals. Finally, I utilize interpersonal psychotherapy, an approach that is focused on utilizing the therapeutic relationship to create positive change in your relationships with others. With my extensive training through ISSTD, I bring a wide selection of therapeutic tools to assist you in your journey.
