Getting to know Ellie Spaulding Hershberger

Ellie Spaulding Hershberger is a Resident in Counseling with a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Eastern Mennonite University. I help individuals navigate major life stressors, trauma, life transitions, and women's issues, among other concerns. Counseling can offer you the space to better understand yourself, create change, and address troubling or confusing thoughts and feelings. My approach is person-centered and strength-based, grounded in the belief that everyone has the capacity for self-healing and growth. My style is warm, casual, non-judgmental, and curious, allowing me to meet you where you are.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work from a strength-based and person-centered approach and I also embody a holistic approach, looking at the mind, body, and spirit. I like using mindfulness techniques and expressive arts when words don’t match the feelings that are present. I am patient and will work with you in a collaborative way to support your story and goals, while also empowering and encouraging you along the way.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session will mostly be an intake session where I will ask you a variety of questions in order to understand you and where you are coming from a little better. From there, each session will be a combination of meeting you where you are at, hearing about what is present for you, along with me gently pushing on topics and/or introducing an activity such as expressive arts or mindfulness.

Ongoing session: $100 for 50 minutes

Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay

More information on payments and coverage

We only accept out-of-pocket pay but will be happy to provide you a monthly superbill to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. The benefit of not using insurance is that you will not be labeled with a diagnosis, nor will we have to follow strict insurance policies about session limits etc. Payment is accepted at the beginning of each session. We will take cash, check, Venmo, or credit cards.
