“I am So Happy to have found Elliott! He Genuinely enjoys what he does and it shows .He makes you feel comfortable with his Great soothing style.Excellent mix of talking ,listening both with caring in each and is , formulating a plan for us both! I haven’t had the Best of luck with Mental Health Professionals as each has their own style, MOST of which I couldn’t grasp , understand or embrace . Or Insurance/bad accounting issues that a Great Doctor was lost. All that is behind me now, I have the Best& Last in Elliott and Know Everything is going to work out! Couldn’t be in a Better position !He & my Med Mgt. Doc. Will make the Best Team Ever!!! I Thank him SO MUCH for accepting me into his practice, I have Never been Comfortable & Hopeful about the future as I am now!!!Can you tell I’m Happy & Satisfied here????? 5 Stars in Every Area!”

Getting to know Elliott Schwartz

In my experience, I've found that the more clients are interested and motivated to make changes, the more they will benefit from the therapeutic process. Client's issues can vary from dealing w a change or transition in their lives to someone who struggles with a chronic mental health issue. Clients are able to be practical and realistic in relation to their goals. Typically, clients are wanting to have a safe space and connection in order to reduce the intensity, duration, or frequency of their issues or associated symptoms.

What should a new client know about working with you?

*I am licensed to see clients in Maryland and Virginia either in person or through telehealth* I offer a holistic approach to helping people. I believe in a "whatever it takes" client-centered approach which can include some of the following modalities: CBT, DBT, Decision-making, Psycho-education, Stress Management, Direct Social Skills training, Mindfulness, and Relaxation. I know it's often hard to reach out and accept help for yourself or a family member etc. I also know it's hard to find a good connection w someone who you can feel comfortable forming a relationship with. I believe that non-verbal communication is every bit as important as verbal communication within a relationship as well.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I like to have clients complete a registration or intake assessment form prior to session to allow us to focus more on what and how clients would like to discuss what they are coming in for services. Depending on the client and situation, I will spend time listening, asking questions, reviewing things that we worked on from prior week, and directing ways to implement strategies or skills to fit whatever particular problem we are addressing.
