What should a new client know about working with you?

I provide a supportive, warm, inviting, and accepting space and meet every client where they are. I take great care to build rapport and ensure every person I work with feels safe & heard. It is such a privilege working alongside the clients who entrust me with their care. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and a strength's based, trauma informed approach in working with every client. Therapy is goal oriented and active, often requiring practicing of skills and techniques between sessions.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Clients can expect a 15 minute consultation call soon after booking and before their first appointment to ensure my expertise is a good fit for your needs. Therapy with Elyse is a collaborative process. First, you'll work together to identify the pain points and the areas you need support with in therapy during the initial intake session, then you'll create goals together. If you are in treatment for yourself as an adult, you'll work 1 on 1 with Elyse for 50 minutes every week on interventions specifically aligned to target those goals. If you are in treatment for your child/teen, Elyse will share options at the initial intake for being involved in the sessions. Generally for younger children, parents are expected to be nearby for most of the session with specific caregiver meeting points at the beginning and end, with 30 of the 50 minutes spent individually with the child. For teens, caregiver involvement varies and will be agreed upon in the initial intake session. Sometimes it includes a caregiver being present at the end of most sessions, other times caregivers will schedule 30 minutes to meet with Elyse alone to review treatment goals and progress together. I believe that involving caregivers in treatment is essential!
