Getting to know Elysia Burgess

My belief is that counseling is a journey we travel together. My role as a therapist is to provide a safe, trusting environment in which clients are respected and valued as significant contributors to their process of healing and growth. I strongly believe that you should feel comfortable with the therapist you choose and hopeful about your contribution to the process. My approach is focused on your possibilities—possibilities for healing, growth, change, learning, insight, and understanding. Throughout this therapeutic relationship, we will work on building trust, integrity, and acceptance as we navigate this process together. I want you to leave feeling equipped and empowered to manage your life once again. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree, both from Southern New Hampshire University, which have prepared me to support you effectively on this journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I've gained experience counseling children, teens, and adults in a variety of settings including private practice, and mental health facilities. Within these settings, I’ve enjoyed working with children, teens, and adults to help them navigate through issues arising from trauma, anxiety, depression, life transitions, behavioral problems, and self-esteem.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Starting therapy was a big step for me and honestly really scary. Having my sessions with Elysia have been nothing but empowering and eye opening. She has cultivated a safe and authentic space when it comes to discussing what’s on my mind and in my life. It has allowed me to be more open while also getting good feedback as well as developing tools to help me.
Dr Burgess's use of humor has made it really comfortable and easy for me to open up. She takes time to listen, understand, and relate to my feelings, then offers practical advice that is not overwhelming. This is my first time doing therapy and she has made it a great experience so far.
Her therapy style actually includes many of the choices listed. She is not only warm and solution oriented but also humorous, authentic, intelligent and open minded. She challenges me to shift perspective and helps find permanent solutions to long term issues.
I love my therapy sessions with Elysia! She has helped me to grow and heal from some of the most challenging experiences I have encountered in life, thus far. I was nervous about initially starting therapy and counseling, but she made it comfortable for me to open up and talk about what’s going on. I feel so much better about life moving forward; and my continued work with her is helping me to stay on track mentally and focused on my emotional well being.
The absolute care and compassion.

Mrs Burgess was amazing. It felt like I was talking to someone I've known for yrs. She's very down to earth and understanding. I couldn't have picked a better person to work out my issues with let alone someone to help me hold myself accountable at getting better for my family. Had I known that this would have been this relaxing, I would have done this year's ago.
