Hi, I’m Emily, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of South Florida. Since graduating in 2019, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of people — from busy professionals and veterans to children and families — all navigating life’s challenges in their own way. Over the years, I’ve helped clients manage anxiety, depression, addiction, burnout, and work-related stress. But where I feel most connected and effective is in supporting people through anxiety and trauma. Whether it’s navigating constant overthinking, feeling stuck in survival mode, or carrying the weight of past experiences, I bring a calm, compassionate presence and evidence-based tools to help you get unstuck and feel more in control.

Getting to know Emily Adams

What should a new client know about working with you?

Therapy with me is real, supportive, and collaborative. I pull from approaches like CBT, DBT, CPT, and Schema Therapy, but I always tailor our sessions to what works best for you. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel truly heard — not judged — and where you can explore how your past experiences and current stressors are impacting your life. Like many of my clients, I know what it’s like to juggle responsibilities, second-guess yourself, and feel like you’re always running on empty. That lived experience helps me approach my work with empathy and a practical, down-to-earth mindset. I’m here to help you slow down, gain insight, and build a life that feels more balanced and authentic — not just for today, but for the long run.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first few sessions are all about getting to know each other. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re hoping to get out of it, and what life’s been throwing your way. There’s no pressure to dive in deep right away — we’ll go at your pace and build a foundation of trust before anything else. I use evidence-based approaches like CBT, CPT, DBT, and Schema Therapy, but I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. I tailor each session to you — your goals, your preferences, your pace. Some days might be more skills-focused, other days might be more reflective or exploratory. We figure it out together. I often incorporate homework between sessions to help you carry what we’re doing in therapy into your real life. That doesn’t mean endless worksheets (unless you love those!) — it might be journaling prompts, reflection exercises, mindfulness practices, or small action steps that feel doable and relevant. My goal is to make sure therapy feels helpful both in and outside of session. Above all, working with me is collaborative, flexible, and human. You bring the lived experience; I bring the tools and support. Together, we make space for healing, clarity, and change.
