Getting to know Emily Arthur

Hi! I’m Emily, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker specializing in alcohol use disorder, other addictions, anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from George Mason University and my Master’s in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010. I’ve worked in various settings, including schools, hospitals, detox/residential, and intensive outpatient dual diagnosis treatment. Most recently, I provided individual therapy in a group practice from 2019 to 2025. I take a holistic approach to therapy, emphasizing the connection between mind, body, and lifestyle. Together, we’ll explore how your habits and routines influence your mental health while developing a deeper understanding of your history and inner world. Drawing from approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Humanistic therapy, Positive Psychology, and EMDR, I tailor my methods to support your unique strengths, challenges, and goals. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I value open communication to ensure our work together evolves to meet your needs. I often compare therapy to an emotional gym—a space for both relief and growth. While some sessions may feel restorative, others might challenge you, which can be a sign of meaningful progress.

In-network insurances

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
