Finding balance is hard enough, but when you are navigating the unpredictable waves of a chronic stress and illness, it can feel impossible. I know this because I’ve been there. My approach is rooted in 14 years of clinical expertise, but it is fueled by my own lived experience with chronic illness. I understand the grief of a changing body, the exhaustion of the 'invisible' struggle, and the anxiety of wondering what tomorrow will look like. At Blissful Balance, we don't just talk about coping; we work together to reclaim your identity from your diagnosis and build a life that feels authentic and sustainable.

Getting to know Emily Bliss

Finding balance is hard enough, but when you are navigating the unpredictable waves of a chronic stress and illness, it can feel impossible. I know this because I’ve been there. My approach is rooted in 14 years of clinical expertise, but it is fueled by my own lived experience with chronic illness. I understand the grief of a changing body, the exhaustion of the 'invisible' struggle, and the anxiety of wondering what tomorrow will look like. At Blissful Balance, we don't just talk about coping; we work together to reclaim your identity from your diagnosis and build a life that feels authentic and sustainable.

What should a new client know about working with you?

We focus on somatic and nervous system regulation. If you’re in a flare or a high-anxiety spiral, your brain isn't ready for logic. I’ll teach you how to calm your body’s alarm system first, so we can actually do the deeper work of CBT and DBT later.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The first session isn’t an interrogation—it’s a conversation. Starting therapy can feel like a lot, especially when you’re already managing a "full plate" of symptoms or stress. Here is exactly how we’ll spend our first 50 minutes together: The "Vibe" Check: We’ll start by making sure you feel comfortable. Whether you’re sitting on your couch with a heating pad, or taking a break from a busy workday, this is a "come as you are" space. Mapping the Landscape: We’ll talk about what brought you here right now. I want to hear about your history, but I also want to know what your "Tuesday afternoon" looks like—what’s feeling heavy, what’s feeling stuck, and where you’re losing your balance. The Dual Perspective: Since I bring both clinical expertise and lived experience with chronic illness to the table, we don’t have to waste time "translating" your physical struggles. We’ll look at how your mind and body are talking to each other. Setting the Compass: By the end of our first hour, we’ll identify 1 or 2 core goals. You’ll leave with a clear sense of how I work and, hopefully, a small sense of relief that you don't have to carry the weight alone anymore. The Goal: You should walk away feeling seen, heard, and—most importantly—validated. We aren't here to "fix" you; we're here to help you navigate your life with more steadiness and authentic connection.
