Getting to know Emily Dillon

Are you tired of feeling like you're always "on"? Constantly managing responsibilities, taking care of everyone else, and carrying more than your share—while wondering why slowing down feels so difficult? Maybe you learned early that being helpful, responsible, or successful was how you earned approval, avoided conflict, or kept the peace. Maybe you were the "good kid," the caretaker, the peacemaker, or the one who learned to put your own needs aside to make life easier for everyone else. While these patterns may have helped you navigate difficult circumstances, they can also lead to anxiety, burnout, perfectionism, people-pleasing, chronic stress, and a constant sense of pressure. I help adults move beyond insight and create meaningful, lasting change. Whether you're working through childhood wounds, trauma, chronic pain, mind-body symptoms, or simply feeling exhausted from carrying too much for too long, we'll work together to understand the patterns keeping you stuck, regulate your nervous system, and build a more sustainable way of living. My approach combines insight-oriented therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness, somatic therapy, and Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) to address both the mind and body. Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and affirming. I proudly provide LGBTQIA+ affirming, sex-positive, and body-positive care, and strive to create a space where you feel understood, supported, and empowered to reconnect with yourself.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Many of my clients are thoughtful, self-aware people who have spent years taking care of everyone else while struggling to make space for themselves. They often understand where their anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, or perfectionism comes from, yet still find themselves stuck in the same patterns. Therapy is where we begin turning that insight into meaningful change. My style is warm, collaborative, and conversational. I bring curiosity, honesty, and a bit of humor into the room while creating a space where you can show up authentically without judgment. Together, we'll explore the patterns that have shaped you, strengthen your connection with yourself, and build practical tools that help you feel more grounded, present, and aligned with the life you want to live.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first few sessions focus on getting to know you, understanding what brings you to therapy, and exploring the experiences and patterns that have shaped you. Together, we'll identify the concerns that feel most important to address while building a foundation of safety, trust, and collaboration. As therapy progresses, we'll work to understand the underlying patterns contributing to anxiety, burnout, people-pleasing, perfectionism, chronic stress, or mind-body symptoms. We'll explore how these patterns may have developed, help your nervous system learn new ways of responding, and build practical tools that support lasting change. My goal is not only to help you feel better, but to help you create a more sustainable way of relating to yourself and your life.

She creates a welcoming space for moms and LGBTQIA+ adults, offering practical support that helps clients feel understood and empowered. Highly recommend!
Emily specializes in somatic approaches to anxiety, burnout, and chronic pain, which means she's not just interested in what you're thinking - she's interested in what your body has been carrying and what it's been trying to tell you. For folks who've tried talk therapy and still felt like something was missing, somatic work can be the piece that finally makes things click. She creates a space that's genuinely affirming for LGBTQIA+ adults and understands the particular exhaustion that comes with being a mom who's used to taking care of everyone but themselves. If your stress has become so constant it just feels like your personality, she's worth reaching out to!
