“Emily is an incredibly insightful and intelligent clinician. She is a great choice for socially conscious people interested in exploring how their mental health is shaped by cultural and political forces, but also working through these things to find personal (and political) liberation. She is energetic and compassionate and always makes me feel seen and empowered. ”

Getting to know Emily Fitzgerald Levine

I am passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate the transition to parenthood. Adoption, surrogacy, assisted fertility treatments, difficult pregnancies, traumatic births, and pregnancy loss are all challenging and deeply personal experiences that deserve time and attention to integrate into your own narrative. I aim to provide a nonjudgmental space to process as we search for meaning together, and seek to transform your pain into wisdom, power, and deeper trust in yourself and your relationships. I am a licensed professional counselor with a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling from Northwestern University. I completed my undergraduate degree at McGill University in Montreal, Canada, earning a bachelor's in gender, sexuality, feminist, and social justice studies, with minors in international development and art history. My clinical and research interests center around perinatal mental health and the relationship between feminism, psychotherapy, and collective liberation. I also have experience working in residential treatment for eating, mood, and anxiety disorders.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My practice is rooted in an anti-racist, queer-aligned, body-positive approach. I draw from feminist theory, decolonization practices, existentialism, and somatic modalities. I am committed to examining how systemic factors like race, sex, and class affect wellness, and welcome clients of all races, genders, ages, religions, and sexualities. Let’s connect to ensure you have the support you need.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

As an active and engaged therapist, I do more than just listen. My style is comfortable, compassionate, and collaborative. I combine active listening with feedback, psychoeducation, and support. Together, we will identify your strengths, values, needs, and goals, and co-create your path to healing and joy.
