Hi there, I'm Emily!
Hello! My name is Emily Hansen, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the Show Me State of Missouri. I am dedicated to supporting my clients through life's challenging ups and downs toward improving emotional health.
My approach
I have an eclectic therapy approach tailored to each individual and the needs presented. My goal is to create a safe emotional space that allows for open expression and exploration.
My focus
Along with being a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have been a Professional School Counselor for 14 years. I have experience working with school-aged children through late adulthood. My approach works well with a variety of life challenges, especially anxiety, depression, grief and loss, stress, and life transitions.
My communication style
I have a soft, calm approach and pride myself on being an empathetic listener. I strive to create an environment where my clients feel comfortable sharing anything and know that I will listen without judgment and truly hear them. Even when challenging clients to try new things or view a situation from a different lens, it is done with empathy and care.
My journey to mental healthcare
My journey to becoming a therapist started in my third-grade classroom 24 years ago. I loved teaching but found myself wanting more. I was drawn to emotional connections and helping students and staff during difficult times. Because of that, I earned my Master's Degree in Counseling from Lindenwood University. During my time as a school counselor, I still wanted more, which led me to earn my LPC. I still love being both a school counselor and a therapist.
My goals for you
My approach to goal setting is always collaborative. This will happen naturally as we get to know one another and discuss what we both feel will be most beneficial for healthy emotional growth.
