Emily Kettell, LCSW

Emily Kettell, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I have been a social worker providing clinical services for over nine years, with a wide variety of experience in psychotherapy. I specialize in addiction, trauma, anxiety, neurodiverse concerns, LGBTQ-IA+ needs, and mood disorders. I also have experience working with healing populations and have received significant training in compassion fatigue. It is hard for us as clinicians to find the support we need. We often become colleagues while in therapy, and the focus on the client (you) can get lost when we seek help. I make sure that does not happen when working with fellow professionals. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from the State University of New York, Stony Brook.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You are the expert! When life gets in the way, we often forget about ourselves. My job is to help you reconnect with your strengths, in order to assist you in identifying the barriers that get in the way of emotional healing. Through various therapeutic approaches, such as, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy and client-centered goal setting, it is my hope that you will feel empowered to overcome the thoughts, emotions and external stressors that continue to cause you pain.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At minimum, it is my goal to create an environment of comfort where you feel safe to share in sessions. Once trust is established, we will work as a team to identify your needs, and what we can work on to improve your overall quality of life.
