Hi there, I'm Emily! Hello, my name is Emily Maras, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I am passionate about supporting all of my clients through their various challenges and experiences. This can be accomplished by helping you help yourself-providing the tools and safe space needed to then experience healing and change. My approach My approach is client-centered. I will meet you with empathy, compassion, and an open mind. I believe it is important to understand my clients' treatment priorities to create a well-rounded plan toward treatment. My focus I have worked with a wide variety of clients ranging from adolescents to adults. These clients have been dually diagnosed, including but not limited to anxiety disorders, mood disorders, substance use disorders, personality disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder. My communication style During sessions, I use active listening with empathy and cultural competence, reflection, as well as assertive, concise communication. I encourage a safe space for clients to share their thoughts and feelings free of judgment. My goals for you When approaching goal setting, I rely on clients to communicate their goals, and we work together to make them into SMART goals in order to achieve them throughout our time together. My first session with you When meeting for the first time, I like to get to know my clients-their past experiences, including events, behaviors, and feelings that have brought them to seek help. I find this approach helpful when paired with understanding their goals to create a thorough treatment plan.
