I'm so glad you found me! You may be living with emotional pain. No matter how hard you try, something just isn't working. You might feel like things have spun out of your control. There are certain things required of you, but you don't feel capable of meeting those expectations. Most days you don't believe in yourself. You feel alone. You know you need help; the first step is reaching out and accepting "the helping hand." Allow me to help you navigate through this confusing time and regain your confidence in yourself. As your therapist, I can guide you toward improving your mood and relationships, as well as strengthening your coping skills and problem-solving abilities so that what once felt unmanageable is now manageable. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University and a Certificate in Substance Abuse Counseling from the University of the Pacific. My therapeutic space is flexible and judgment-free. I strive to provide you with a space where you can be your authentic self. Please verify I list your insurance before booking an appointment if you plan to use insurance.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note that I only work with individual adults. I do not currently provide groups, couples or child counseling My personal philosophy around therapy is that it is a tool used to help you on your journey until you are ready to let go of the helping hand and navigate your world using the coping skills, tools and resources you gained in therapy. I view therapy as a collaboration. I may have suggestions on things that I think can help you but ultimately you are expert on your life. My clients tend to view me as nonjudgmental, anti-shaming and as a champion for them. I work through a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy lens, which looks at thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and how they are connected. Feelings like these can feel unmanageable, so we will focus on how to look at behaviors and perceptions to feel better.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The appointment you book is the weekly appointment spot for ongoing therapy. Once you book I will reach out to confirm my rate ($100-150) and obtain your insurance information to verify you are in network with one of the following: United Healthcare, Optum, Aetna, Cigna, Oscar, Presbyterian. Our first appointment is an intake where I will gather information about your presenting symptoms or what is bringing you to therapy. We will discuss your history and set treatment goals together. Treatment goals give us a guideline and understanding about what you want to achieve during our time together. I charge $100 when out of insurance network for this session, which is lower than my general fee, in order for us to get a sense of each other and determine if you would like to continue working with me. After the intake, I recommend meeting weekly as we get to know each other but can schedule biweekly if needed. Every session will be about 50 minutes long. If there is a week that is particularly difficult for you, we can increase sessions that week as needed so you feel supported. Because change is a process and different for everyone, I don't set a standard for the number of sessions to complete. When your therapy goals are met and you have nothing else to work on, that means therapy has come to an end and we will discuss what that looks like. My door is always open for if and when you decide to return! Once I receive your booking you will receive emailed consent documents through Simple Practice and may receive Insurance Requests through Alma (if using insurance), a company I use to bill insurance. Please fill these out ASAP.
