Getting to know Emily Pelky

[A note about insurance] I am an out-of-network provider and am able to accept out-of-network benefits from all insurance providers. Most out-of-network benefits provide partial reimbursement after you have paid for your session in full at the time of your appointment. Depending on your plan, you may be required to meet a deductible prior to receiving reimbursement for your sessions. I can support you by submitting all insurance claims for reimbursement on your behalf. Please know, I cannot guarantee out-of-network coverage within your specific insurance benefits. I am currently accepting new clients. I work with adults of all ages and teens 16+, and see clients for individual or couples therapy. I specialize in perinatal mental health, anxiety, depression, burnout, career changes, and attachment. If you are... - pregnant and preparing for parenthood - struggling in postpartum - burnout at your job - hoping to make a career change - navigating a tough relationship with a partner, family or friends - or simply needing support dealing with life right now ... I would love to support you! Credentials: Emily Pelky is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Emily earned her Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and an MBA from Bentley University. She is a RYT200 Yoga Instructor, trained in Gottman Level 1 and 2 couples therapy modalities, EMDR therapy for trauma treatment, and Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Whether you're navigating a current issue, or holding onto longstanding difficulties, we can work together to bring your mind, body, and soul a greater sense of ease and flow. My approach to therapy is led with curiosity and filled with empathy. My intention is to bring compassion, intuition, optimism, and authenticity to your therapy experience. I will provide you with encouragement, reflection, and guidance through your time of healing and growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy can be an incredibly transformative and empowering experience, and finding the right therapist can make all the difference. Upon booking your initial session, I'll share intake forms to be completed. Once your forms are filled out, take a deep breath and know you just took an amazing first step in caring for your mental health. During our first session together, we'll also discuss next steps, and likely schedule a recurring weekly session time for us to continue meeting and for you to continue receiving the support you need. As we begin working together, your therapy sessions will be tailored to your needs and goals. I utilize evidence-based interventions and techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic, and Internal Family Systems theories.
