Emily Powell, LCSW

Psychotherapist
163 5th Ave NE, St. Petersburg, FL
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a private practice in St. Petersburg, FL, specializing in working with teen girls and young adult women. I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of South Florida and my Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Social Sciences from the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. I have experience supporting teens and young adults facing a range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, self-harming behaviors, suicidal ideation, and school refusal. I use a variety of treatment modalities to provide individualized care tailored to each person's goals. Some of the approaches I incorporate in sessions include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment-based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, and Somatic Therapy. My goal is to create a safe space where teen girls, young adult women, and their families feel comfortable discussing their experiences and working toward meaningful change. I partner with my clients to help them discover strength, hope, and resilience to overcome challenges. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, running, exploring new vegetarian restaurants, and going to the beach with my dog, Angel! I believe the first step in any therapeutic journey is building a relationship grounded in trust and understanding. This relationship thrives when we both feel empowered and comfortable speaking openly and collaborating as a team. As a client-empowered clinician, I hold your perspective in the highest regard. Together, we will explore the experiences and events that have left you feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or frustrated. Then, we will identify your values and goals and develop coping skills that work best for you. Through our work, you will build confidence, learn to trust yourself, and embrace healthy relationships.
