Getting to know Emma Immediato
I earned my Bachelor's degree from Binghamton University and my Master's in Social Work from Fordham University. Throughout my education and work experience, I have worked with college students, individuals at an inpatient behavioral health center, and children and adults with developmental disabilities. I am very passionate about working with young adults and college-age individuals and value using therapeutic techniques such as CBT and DBT, along with a strengths-based perspective with my clients. My goal is to empower individuals so that they are able to gain coping skills and eventually become their own strength and support.
What should a new client know about working with you?
From when I was young I felt an intense desire to listen and help support the people around me. It became clear throughout my education that my passion was to help individuals in various phases of life and navigate experiences through non judgmental support and skill building.
What is your typical process for working with clients?
My goal for my clients is to treat themselves like they would treat their best friend, making sure to self prioritize, build self acceptance and self love, and find strength in their capabilities. My approach is tailored for each individual, allowing for a collaborative therapeutic alliance in which goals and style are built between myself and my clients. Whether therapy is desired as a place to express oneself in a safe context, or individuals are struggling with serious mental health experiences, or solution-focused therapy is needed, I hope to be a guide for my clients who eventually are able to become their own best support system.
