Psychotherapist

Hi there, I'm Emma! My name is Emma Jane Watson and I am an independently licensed clinical social worker. I believe that everyone deserves to enjoy contentment and stability without chronic suffering. I bring my knowledge, skills, and lived experience to therapy in order to help clients achieve their life goals. My approach Making changes can be hard, but changing doesn’t have to be painful. I work side-by-side with my clients employing deep understanding, safety, and a sense of humor. By using various treatment modalities, such as DBT, CBT, ACT, EMDR, mindfulness, somatic work, and trauma healing, together we craft interventions that work for you. My focus I only work with adults over the age of twenty-five. The focus of my work is on treating mood disorders, borderline personality disorder, anxiety, grief, loss, and suicidality, along with acute and underlying trauma. I work with people from all walks of life and vocations. I am comfortable working with first responders, medical providers, law enforcement, therapists, LGBTQIA+, and folks making life changes with careers, partners, parents, education, end of-life, and Self. My communication style I listen a great deal, ask relevant questions, let the client take the lead, and redirect when needed. I rarely give advice unless asked; however, I offer problem-solving ideas and skills that may fit the situation. Humor is important to me, and I often laugh with my clients at life’s absurdities. My journey to mental healthcare I taught at Arizona State University for 15 years. I began to feel that I could be of greater help to others if I worked with them one-on-one addressing their fears and problems that prevented them from creating a meaningful life. I chose a Master of Social Work degree taking a clinical track and supplemented it with a certificate in trauma/bereavement while training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and dialectical behavioral therapy.
