Getting to know Engela Hepworth

I'm Engela (South African), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) dedicated to helping individuals navigate life's challenges. With a diverse background, I've gained extensive experience working and traveling in London, UK, and Beijing, China, and now in Savannah, GA. My approach is rooted in empathy, compassion, and collaboration. I provide psychotherapy and Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) as well as other evidence-based practices to empower clients to achieve their goals. FYI: Please note that this platform charges providers a fee of $73 for each booking, including when an appointment is canceled. In light of this, if you schedule a session with me, I kindly ask that you plan to attend or, if needed, reschedule your appointment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

In our sessions, you'll discover a safe and non-judgmental environment where you can freely explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I prioritize establishing a strong therapeutic relationship, customized to your distinct needs and circumstances. Collaboratively, we'll work to identify and challenge maladaptive patterns, develop effective coping strategies, and cultivate resilience. My objective is to empower you to achieve lasting growth, enhanced well-being, and a more fulfilling life. With expertise and compassion, I'll support you in navigating anxiety, depression, eating disorders, OCD, and other mental health concerns, guiding you toward healing and self-discovery.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

The initial session will serve as an intake appointment, providing an opportunity for us to establish a therapeutic relationship and identify your specific needs and goals. This foundational meeting will enable me to gain a comprehensive understanding of your concerns and develop a personalized approach to support your growth and progress. In ongoing sessions, we'll typically begin with a check-in to discuss progress and any changes since the last meeting. We'll explore thoughts, feelings, and experiences related to concerns, identifying patterns and developing strategies to cope with challenges. Through active listening, empathy, and collaboration, we'll work together to achieve goals. Sessions provide a safe, non-judgmental space tailored to unique needs, focusing on developing coping skills and promoting personal growth.

Engela helped our teenage son tremendously through some difficult times with anxiety. She taught him coping techniques that helped him to recognize and control his emotions. She has been a blessing to our family.

Engela is an absolutely incredible therapist. She has helped me work through my OCD and intrusive thoughts and has given me practical, effective tools to manage my anxiety. I feel like I’ve been given the biggest gift back—being able to enjoy my life again and return to my hobbies. She is truly wise beyond her years, and I can’t say enough good things about the care, support, and insight she has provided.
I cannot say enough good things about Engela. I’ve been in therapy most of my life due to a very difficult childhood, but Engela is the first therapist who has truly helped me understand my traumas and how they affect me day to day. She has not only guided me in making sense of my experiences but has also been invaluable in teaching me CBT techniques to challenge and replace negative belief systems with healthier thought patterns. I only wish I had met her years ago so I could have experienced this relief sooner. Engela has an incredible gift for making you feel like you’re the only person who matters—truly listened to, cared for, and supported in a way that will exceed your expectations.
It was a very long jorney, but she never rushed me, instead, was there step by step, good days and bad days, to help me see things on my own and give me the tools and develop the skills I needed to make my own decisions and be able to deal with it through the process and in any upcoming situation in my life. Thank you very much Engela.
Engela has the ability to make her client feel at ease and comfortable to discuss 'deep-seated' thoughts and feelings that many people wouldn't understand. She is a really good listener and her balanced approach when answering questions has really made me feel understood. I especially appreciated the practical advice that Engela has given me and am currently exploring using suggested morning and night time journalling techniques. I highly recommend Engela to any potential client, as I believe she has both the training and the experience to assist individuals on their personal growth journey, regardless of their starting point.
Engela is so easy to talk to. She is positive and non-judgmental. I love that she allows my faith to be a part of our therapy sessions, as a fellow Christian. She is knowledgeable of current research and practices and offers insight that is based on the latest standards. I value the years that I have been seeing her. She has helped be overcome obstacles and continues to help me cope with life’s biggest stressors.
Thank goodness for a therapist who genuinely listens, understands, and cares. I so appreciate the compassion and kindness I was shown during one of the most difficult and challenging times of my life. I highly recommend Engela and her expertise.
I've been seeing Engela for about five years and I highly recommend her! It's very easy to talk to her about personal issues and she is super comforting which makes hard topics easier to talk about. I can tell she genuinely cares for the people she sees and I couldn't ask for a better therapist. :)
Engela is a wonderful counselor! She never makes me feel judged for the intrusive thoughts I have and has education and experience in dealing with OCD clients. I also value that she is a Christian as I hold my faith dear to me as well.
Engela completely turned my life around! I will forever be grateful for her, if you’re thinking of starting therapy and are nervous. I was too, but Engela never failed to make me feel safe and comfortable. I couldn’t recommend her enough.
I cannot recommend Engela enough if you're looking for a great counselor. I spent over 5 years in counseling, often switching counselors and getting run-around responses about my anxiety. Even once told it was a "catch 22!" About a year and half back, I found Engela through a quick Google search. I am so grateful for that Google search because she got me in right away, and we were able to discuss and treat my anxiety from our very first session. Engela knew right away what kind of anxiety I was dealing with and has years of experience with that type of anxiety. It was such a relief to finally talk to someone that had experience and knowledge so she could guide me to my best self and healing. We've been working together for about a year and a half, and I'm beyond grateful for her knowledge, guidance, patience, and expertise. I can tell Engela cares deeply for her profession and for her patients. I truly owe my progress with anxiety to her.
I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with Engela. From the very first session, I felt truly heard, supported, and understood. Their approach is both compassionate and insightful—they create such a safe, welcoming space where it feels easy to open up. What I appreciate most is how Engela balance genuine empathy with practical tools and guidance that I can apply in my daily life. I always leave sessions feeling lighter, more grounded, and equipped to handle challenges with confidence. Working with Engela has been a life-changing experience for me, and I am so grateful to have found such a skilled, caring therapist. I wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for meaningful support and growth.
Engela is professional, wise and so helpful. I've learned from her and she's helped me navigate some very rough circumstances. I'd trust my daughters with her. I'd absolutely recommend Engela.
