NY
Ercilia Garcia, LMHC is the founder and Director of MIH Mental Health Counselor PC. I graduated from New York University (NYU) in May 2000 with a Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the School of Education. I have over 25 years of experience working with adolescents, young adults, middle-aged adults, and older adults. I have experience working with conditions ranging from mild trauma, anxiety, and depression to more complex conditions such as bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, existential crisis, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). I have worked in a variety of treatment settings, including methadone maintenance, therapeutic communities, intensive and non-intensive outpatient programs, and freestanding mental health clinics. I have served as Director of Treatment Services and Family Therapy at Alianza Dominicana and as Director of Clinical Services at The Dominican Women Development Center (DWDC). I am also an approved treatment provider through OASAS for individuals with driving while intoxicated (DWI) offenses. In addition, I am a Certified New York Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE). I worked closely with the Office of the Mayor in developing ThriveNYC: A Roadmap to Mental Health. My main goal is for everyone affected by a limiting mental, emotional, or behavioral condition to have access to much-needed mental health services by helping eliminate barriers that often prevent individuals from seeking care. My mission and vision are to provide a safe, professional, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where individuals can explore different ways to use their own strengths to address the challenges they may be facing and bring about positive changes in their lives—Making It Happen (MIH).
