What should a new client know about working with you?

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, and there is no room for judgement in this process. Therapy is an opportunity for you to raise awareness about yourself, your relationship with others, and your view of the world. When we begin working together, you can start changing circumstances that are in your control, and find ways to focus less on factors that are out of your control. To me, therapy is a safe space to be vulnerable and intentional with what you hope to accomplish.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Using CBT as a framework, we will explore coping methods that can help you improve interpersonal relationships, reduce symptoms of anxiety or depression, challenge intrusive thoughts, increase self-determination, adopt a growth mindset, and commit to structured goals. I remain flexible with therapeutic approaches to meet clients' individual needs. Let's get this process started together!

Really empowering, but really level headed and authentic approach to personal therapy. Could not recommend Dr. Gutgarts more highly
Dr. Gutgarts has a thoughtful approach and is very engaged in accommodating patient needs and preferred approach. He has a welcoming demeanor and bring a lot of knowledge and insight to the discussion. Highly recommended
Eric is hands down one of the most impactful people I’ve worked with. He’s not just a great listener—he has a rare ability to cut through the noise and reflect things back in a way that actually shifts something inside you. He brings real presence, compassion, and just the right amount of challenge. Working with him has helped me move from just coping to actually growing. Highly recommend.
Eric was great. I felt completely comfortable and heard during our session. He gave me great tools to work with based on one session.

My sessions with Dr. Gutgarts have been truly helpful in improving my overall mental and emotional state. With his guidance, I feel markedly improved in my ability to frame and reframe my thinking in a way that helps me maintain regulation, even in more difficult moments. I’m glad to have found him and plan to continue our sessions moving forward.
Eric Gutgarts is absolutely phenomenal. I received his information from a colleague of mine. I have been working with him for close to 3 years now, and I cant put to words how well he untangles the thoughts of the mind. As a fellow clinician, I give my highest recommendations on working with him. He is the creme de la creme.
Dr. Gutgarts has been integral in my personal growth as I've navigated large-scale relationship issues and change while simultaneously creating the space to connect a lot of my childhood and hobbies to behaviors that have impacted my adulthood. I feel I have become a much more confident and self-aware version of myself through my treatment with Dr. Gutgarts. Also as an athlete I would highly recommend Dr. Gugarts because he is able to break down a lot of fast twitch thought processes that provide deep, analytical understanding of an athlete's way of thinking and communicating that has become immensely valuable in my relationships, career, and in my training as well.
Dr. Gutgarts is consistently professional not only in booking and administration like insurance, but in his manner during our sessions. I always feel heard, and his approach of gently but clearly guiding me toward recognizing my own patterns of behavior has been extremely helpful. I never feel judged, and he does his best to provide me with tangible history as well as recommendations for future shifts in my own responses. The suggestions are incremental and doable, which has led to significant progress over the course of treatment.
Working with Dr. Gutgarts has been one of the most impactful experiences in my personal growth journey. What sets them apart is their ability to hold space with empathy while also holding me accountable to the goals and progress I’ve committed to. Rather than giving me quick answers or easy outs, Dr. Gutgarts consistently pushes me to find the answers within myself; especially when it comes to understanding and shifting my behavioral patterns. Their approach has helped me become more self-aware, more honest with myself, and more capable of making real, lasting changes. I’m incredibly grateful for their guidance and would recommend Dr. Gutgarts to anyone looking for a therapist who will both support and challenge you in equal measure.
I have been seeing Dr. Gutgarts for about a year and he has been able to guide me through major personal and professional milestones. He continues to meet me where I am each week and adapt our sessions to what I need while still challenging me as appropriate. I appreciate his ability to combine clinical research with practical examples and my own personal experiences.
Eric has been from the beginning professional, felexible, communicative and most importantly, an excellent provider. I cannot stress enough, Eric is a game changer, who listens and provides valuable feedback and discussion. He has made a difference in how I handle many situations, called life!
