“We worked with Eric for 4+ years with an elderly uncle with dementia. His music therapy was a key to his happiness. Eric was able to make adjustments based on how functional my uncle was that day. Each class was never the same but at the same time, had threads that carried through week to week. Eric was always able to include visitors. We played xylophone, drummed and sang. These are some of the best memories we have of caring for our uncle who has since passed. The whole family is so grateful for Eric's caring and talent in creating such a beautiful experience.”

What should a new client know about working with you?

Eric Lebowitz is a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist and board-certified Music Therapist in White Plains, NY. Eric studied music at Berklee College of Music and earned his Masters degree in Music Therapy from New York University. He is also trained in neurological music therapy and certified grief counseling. He offers the option for in-home visits for elders, and online music psychotherapy for caregivers.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Eric provides sessions for seniors in their homes, and for caregivers online. He brings his passion for music and dedication to mindfulness to each session with the aging population suffering with the physical and mental difficulties of age-related illnesses, such as Alzheimers. He believes that creativity and music bring elders to the present moment and offers the chance for expression, joy, and healing. Eric also helps care-givers who are overwhelmed by the responsibilities and emotions involved in caring for a loved one or work related patients/clients. Through the therapeutic relationship, and understanding the science behind meditation and mindfulness, participants in therapy create effective individualized mindfulness practices and resources to cope with personal challenges and learn to manage their stress and emotions, reconcile the struggles with gratitude and self-compassion, and incorporate elevated emotions into their everyday lives.
