Psychotherapist
WA
You've made it this far; now let me help you on your journey. Whether you are new to therapy or returning, I've found that my eclectic therapeutic approach allows each treatment plan to be tailored and as unique as each person I see. My approach Typically, I start with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which means we'll work together to identify cognitive distortions, build coping skills, and implement psychotherapy for processing. An example is the inability to challenge irrational thoughts that can trigger anxiety; we may explore thought patterns and develop practical coping strategies. My focus In the past, I have had various clients ask questions regarding their overwhelming anxiety, stress, grief, and/or depression. Although the answers are often complex, the treatment plans we collaboratively agree on start with learning to manage these symptoms by identifying triggers, building coping, and eventually processing trauma (if needed). My communication style During our session, the communication technique I used was Reflective Listening. This communication style employs repeating, paraphrasing, and reflection of feeling to ensure I understand the information, feelings, and context you are providing, which in turn allows you to know you are understood and elaborate as needed. My journey to mental healthcare After I served two tours of combat while in the Army, I worked as a U.S. defense contractor. While spending many years deployed, I noticed the cycle and high rate of mental health and substance use among both military personnel and civilians. These experiences lead to a rewarding career in case management, social work, and mental health therapy. My goals for you The essential components in reaching your treatment goals are multifaceted. Our sessions are collaborative and start with creating a treatment plan.
