Getting to know Eric Shiveley
Hi there. I hope you're doing alright today. The main reason I do this job is I've been to spots where I truly didn't know how I would get through, or how things could ever be okay again. To me that's very important to be a competent counselor. Most of us don't ask for help until things have gotten really bad. I've had training in all the primary modalities including CBT, EMDR and DBT, but I think the jobs and careers I had before counseling are just as important. I've been a teacher, I worked in software for ten years, I was the night manager in a homeless shelter, and I was a broke artist and filmmaker for a long time. I'm more proud of my studio engineering and production skills than probably anything else I've done. Whatever is going on with you I'd love to help however I can. No one knows exactly what it's like to be you. But sometimes we need someone to help us think and let us know we're not crazy for feeling totally lost or alone.
